Hudson House Southlake Review: Oysters, Sushi, and My Birthday Dinner
By Alyssa Hidalgo ·

My first Hudson House visit was in Dallas with one of my dearest friends about a year ago. I ordered the fish tacos, fell in love with the atmosphere, and immediately understood why people kept talking about this restaurant.
So when Hudson House came to Southlake, I was already excited. Having a favorite restaurant closer to our home in Trophy Club? Yes, please.
Our friends Brad and Lori invited Hector and me to celebrate my 37th birthday at the Southlake location, which gave us the perfect occasion to enjoy it together.
I love sharing the places that make living here feel special, and Hudson House is high on that list. Beautiful interiors, a table full of oysters and sushi, and a birthday evening with people I love made this visit especially memorable.
We tried quite a bit that night, including a few things I hadn’t ordered before. Here’s what we loved.

What We Ordered at Hudson House Southlake
The oysters
I love oysters. They’re one of my favorite things to order when we go out, so I was especially excited about this part.
We tried pretty much all of their oyster selections, and our spread was huge. Every single one tasted fresh and delicious. There wasn’t a bad one in the bunch.
If you’re an oyster person, this was one of the highlights of our dinner.
The fish tacos
Of course I ordered the fish tacos.
They’re what I had on my first Hudson House visit in Dallas, and they’re still one of the first things I mention when someone asks me about the restaurant. I’ve called them a 10 out of 10 before, and my birthday dinner gave me another reason to keep recommending them.
The sushi, which completely surprised me
Somehow, I hadn’t realized Hudson House had sushi on the menu.
We ordered several rolls, and they were incredible. I wish I remembered the names of every roll we tried, but I can confidently say the sushi was one of the biggest surprises of the evening.
I came in excited about the oysters and fish tacos. I left knowing I would be ordering sushi on a future visit, too. Five stars from me.

Hector’s lobster roll
Hector ordered the lobster roll, and it was delicious, too.
Between his lobster roll, my fish tacos, the oysters, and all the sushi we shared, we got to try a good variety. Everything we ordered made me more excited to come back.
The cheeseburger I’m already eyeing
We didn’t order the cheeseburger, so I can’t give you a taste review yet. But I saw one at another table, and it looked absolutely incredible.
That one is on my list for another visit.
Save Room for the Espresso Martini and Chocolate Dessert
The espresso martini deserves its own mention.
We had it with dessert, and it was so delicious. It tasted different from the traditional espresso martinis I’ve had at other restaurants. I picked up a cinnamon flavor that almost gave it a Christmasy feel.
I loved it. The espresso martini was easily my favorite drink of the evening.
Their regular martini, though, was the one thing I didn’t love. It was good, but I’ve definitely had better and much colder. If you’re a martini girl, you know that ice-cold temperature is part of what makes it so good, and this one missed the mark for me. Next time, I’m going straight for the espresso martini.
We also had a chocolate dessert that was so good. I don’t remember its menu name, but between that, the espresso martini, and the birthday sparkler, it was a pretty wonderful way to finish the evening.

The Atmosphere: Classy, Comfortable, and a Little East Coast
It has that East Coast neighborhood restaurant feel. Beautiful interiors, an oyster bar, and a setting that makes getting dressed for dinner feel fun.
It feels special enough for a birthday celebration, but approachable enough that you can picture coming back for a regular dinner, too.
That combination is a big part of the appeal for me. I want a beautiful restaurant where I can relax, enjoy my company, and feel at home.

Why I Love Having Hudson House in Southlake
Living in Trophy Club, I love having Southlake so close. Restaurants like Hudson House are part of what makes that proximity feel valuable in everyday life.
Sometimes you want a dinner worth getting dressed up for without turning the evening into a trip to Dallas. Sometimes you’re meeting friends. Sometimes you’re celebrating a birthday.
Having another place nearby that I already enjoy gives us one more option for those evenings.
It’s also why I share local restaurants through The Hidalgo Team. When you’re exploring places to live in Southlake or Trophy Club, the neighborhoods and houses matter, but so do the places you’ll go after you move.
Your dinner spots, coffee stops, and favorite places to celebrate become part of feeling settled here.
Would I Go Back to Hudson House Southlake?
Absolutely.
Hudson House was already a favorite, and now the Southlake location has a birthday memory attached to it.
The oysters lived up to my expectations, the fish tacos are still a favorite, and the sushi was a delicious surprise. Add Hector’s lobster roll and that espresso martini, and we have plenty of reasons to return.
If you’re looking for a Southlake date night restaurant, a place to meet friends, or somewhere to celebrate your next birthday, this is one I would happily recommend.
